PASTICHE SCHOLARSHIP
You are invited to apply for the Pastiche Steel Ensemble Scholarship Award for the academic year 2018-2019. Applicants must be currently enrolled as a steelpan major (graduate or undergraduate) at Northern Illinois University (NIU) and be in good academic standing in order to be eligible for this award. The Pastiche Steel Ensemble will award scholarships valued at $1000, $600, and $500 to three students for the Spring 2019 Semester. The funds will be paid directly to the bursar and will go towards school fees.
The Pastiche Steel Ensemble was created in 2009 by NIU steelpan majors to expose the uniqueness of the steelpan through performances, clinics, and educational seminars. The ensemble also sought to highlight original compositions and arrangements for steelpan that take the instrument to a new level of artistic respectability and musical innovation. As such, the ensemble is seeking to award three candidates who can demonstrate a commitment to exposing wider audiences to the instrument and/or composing new and innovative works for the instrument.
To apply, you must submit the following (see below). The submission deadline is November 30 at 11:59 pm.
The awarding committee will consider videos that are creative, educational, and clear.
By applying for this grant, you give Pastiche permission to publicly share your video.
Scholarship awardees will be announced by January 2nd, 2019.
